4)Does the Golden Triangle Baptist Association (GTBA), the Mississippi Baptist Convention (MBC), or the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) own or control CrossPoint?
No. CrossPoint is an autonomous church under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. He purchased the church with his death on the Cross. He owns the church and directs the church through the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We cooperate with the aforementioned groups ( GTBA, MBC, and SBC) because we recognize the value of associating and partnering with other like-minded churches in accomplishing the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). However, we believe every local church should be self-governing and independent from any associational, state, or denominational ownership and control.

5)Why not just be an independent church?
We are an independent church. Every SBC church is completely independent. There is no denominational hierarchy, as there is in many denominations. Each church is self-governed and determines its own affairs. For example:
· Every SBC church chooses its own pastor.
· Every SBC church owns its own buildings and assets.
· Every SBC church determines its own mission, strategy, and programs.

6)What are the advantages of affiliating with the SBC?
First, it allows us to identify with other Christians around the world who are known for their commitment to the Bible. The Bible is our authority. Second, it allows our church to participate in the largest missionary organization in the world. Through the SBC Cooperative Program we help support over 7,500 missionaries in 104 countries around the world.

10)What is my next step at CrossPoint?
At this point, we recognize that you are probably at one of three places:
· This is not the church for me.
· I'm not ready to make a decision.
· I'm ready to invest my membership at CrossPoint.
If you are at the first decision, then please know we will continue to pray for you as you continue to seek God's guidance in finding a church family. We are proud you visited with CrossPoint and hope that you will feel free to worship with us anytime.
If you are at the second decision we would encourage you to continue to visit CrossPoint so you can continue to seek God's leadership in this decision.
If you are at the third decision we would love for you to join the CrossPoint family by coming down during the invitation the next Sunday you are at worship and share that decision with our church. Or, if you have already come down, then simply share with your host at this meeting that you do want to make CrossPoint your church home.

What are our requirements and expectations for membership?
First, each individual who joins CrossPoint must be a follower of Jesus Christ who has been spiritually reborn. Only Christians can be a member of the church. Profession of Faith/Baptism: Individuals who profess for the first time that Christ is their Lord and Savior join the church through their profession of faith during one of the worship services.
Transfer of Membership: Individuals who are members of another Baptist church can request membership via transfer of their membership to this congregation. The church office, in turn, contacts the other Baptist church for an official recommendation and transfer of membership.
Statement of Faith: Individuals who are members of another denomination may join upon their profession of faith in Christ as Lord and Savior and acknowledgement they've been baptized by immersion as a believer.
Baptism: Individuals who are members of churches of another denomination but have never been immersed as a believer may join the church. Upon professing their faith in Christ as Lord and Savior and following Christ's example in believer's baptism, they are accepted into membership.
Watchcare: Individuals who are members of another church yet want to join our church family while they are living in our community may want to join our Watchcare membership program. Watchcare allows an individual to identify with our church family without transferring membership from his/her home church. College students and short-term workers in the Starkville area frequently use this membership option. While watchcare membership allows for all the privileges of worship, Bible study, and fellowship, one may not vote in church business sessions.
